With DC's launch of the "New 52" in September, it not only allowed the publisher to reboot their universe (Editor's Note - Check back on Friday for my thoughts on the "reboot".) but to also reintroduce some of their lesser-known characters. One of which would be Animal Man. Being not overly familiar with DC Comics - I grew up a Marvel fan, but also didn't read any comics for many, many years - all I knew of Animal Man was that he was equivalent of Aquaman but on land. In reality, while Aquaman can communicate with marine animals to do his bidding Animal Man's superpower is to borrow the abilities of animals.
In the DCnU, Animal Man (aka Buddy Baker) is a semi-retired superhero - instead concentrating on raising his family. But when his young daughter begins manifesting her own superpowers you begin to see the darker side of having abilities. Now Animal Man must fight to find out what is happening to his daughter and his own changing power.
Animal Man #3 is out in stores today!
