GGOrlando Editorial: Rate Your Favorite Podcasts!

thumbnail

As a Microsoft fanboy, with my Xbox and Windows Phone, I don’t really use iTunes all that much (Zune 4 life, bitches!).  Thus, I don’t really understand how the ratings and rankings system on iTunes for podcasts work.  However, if you listen to any podcast you’ll often hear them implore their listeners to rate & review their show on iTunes.  Apparently, the better their ratings, the better their placement on iTunes, which increases their exposure, which will hopefully lead to them getting new listeners.

Here are a few podcasts previously featured here at GGOrlando under our Local Spotlight which deserve your attention.  If you haven’t checked them out before, please do.  And if you’re already a fan, please rate them on iTunes and give them a positive review.

As the below links will be direct into iTunes, if you’re also amongst those of us who don’t use iTunes you may download the client here.

Anime Addicts Anonymous

The impetus of today’s post comes from the AAA Podcast, who always ask listeners to go on iTunes and rate them in their ongoing battle to overtake another podcast in the rankings which hasn’t produced a new episode in two years.  The show, of course, features Mitsugi, Chiaki, Kimiko and Rokou as they talk Anime news, reviews, and Japanese culture.

Just A Couple of Gs

Once again, not a “local” podcast (they’re from Fort Lauderdale), so I don’t know why I promote them here.  Plus, the host and I are at war.  But, it shows the goodness and love of the Grand Owl that I continue to support them.  Just A Couple of Gs (short for “geeks”…  get it?!), is a weekly comic book review and geek culture show.  Comic Book Alex, Nakia, Nate, Pryde, and whatever random people they find wandering the aisles of Tate’s Comics provide their unique take on the week’s geek news.

Nerdy Show

The Nerdy Show podcast feed on iTunes is actually composed of several different shows, including two previously featured in our Local Spotlight: Marc with a C’s music podcast The Real Congregation as well as the gay-geek-friendly show Flame On!.  Other shows on the channel, besides the titular Nerdy Show (huh huh…  I said, well you know), include Dungeons & Doritos and new show The Hex Grid.

Slacker and The Man

The guys of Slacker and The Man – The Man, Dobbs, Dusty, and Nash – are continuing on from the Stink Studio in the middle of nowhere with geek commentary and silly games.  If you’re bored on a Sunday night, join them as they broadcast live on Stickam.  If you’re like me, download the weekly episodes on Monday and listen to the guys at your leisure.
