Good morning, geeks!
Welcome back to another week here at Generation Geek. This week has the potential to be a lot of fun, so I hope everyone else is as excited as I am!
First, a little patting myself on the back. Last Friday, April 27th, was a sort of milestone here at GGOrlando as it marked one year from the day that I reserved the GGOrlando.com name. Not a major benchmark, as I didn’t get motivated enough to actually start writing the blog until four months later. But, it marks the day that I moved forward with my idea of a local geek event site. So, with another $10 down the drain GGOrlando.com will be with you for another year.
Now, back to the fun stuff. If you’re a fan of comic books, this is a great week for you. Saturday marks Free Comic Book Day and I encourage everyone to check out the special Friday blog which will have listings of participating comic shops and special events they may be having to celebrate the day. In addition, Friday marks the release of this little independent film – may not have heard much about it – THE AVENGERS! While our Wednesday post will have the normal wrap-up of the most popular titles being released this week, the “feature” will be a round-up of the Marvel movies thus far that will be part of the upcoming film. Very excited as I’m a huge Hulk fan, and while I loved The Incredible Hulk (and have grown to appreciate Ang Lee’s Hulk), I’m excited to hear he plays a big role in the movie.
For those who appreciate your stories taking place a galaxy far, far away, don’t forget that Friday is May the 4th… As in “May the fourth be with you”. There’s a really cool event taking place at Downtown Disney, which will be the Thursday spotlight event. In a tradition I started on my personal Twitter account, I’m going to be posting random Star Wars quotes on the GGOrlando Twitter all day Friday.
Anyways, here’s what else is happening this week at Generation Geek:
- Monday: Local Spotlight – Gathering Place Games
- Tuesday: New Home Video & Video Game Releases feat. The Walking Dead
- Wednesday: This Week in Comics feat. The Marvel Movies
- Thursday: Orlando Events Calendar – A Disturbance on the 4th
- Friday: GGOrlando’s Free Comic Book Day Guide
