Orlando Events Calendar – Star Wars Weekends

Here at GGOrlando, we take great pride in introducing readers to the small, underground realms of geekdom around town.  Thus, it’s with great pride that I introduce all of you to this new place that I discovered over in the southern part of town that will be holding a little Star Wars get-together.  Disney’s (who I guess is some guy) Hollywood Studios will open their annual Star Wars Weekends tomorrow.

Yes, much sarcasm in that last paragraph.  But it’s true, this weekend starts Disney’s annual tribute to all things Star Wars at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  Besides the opportunity to ride (and re-ride) the new Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, unique experiences include Hyperspace Hoopla!, the Legends of the Force parade, Bounty Hunter Weekend (June 8-10), and special Q&A sessions and more with the visiting celebrities.  For the kids, there’s the Jedi Training Academy as well as the Padawan Mind Challenge

Announced celebrity appearances for this year’s event include:

I really want to make an Episode I joke here, but I commend each of the Phantom Menace actors from taking the time out of their busy schedules to come to Orlando.

Hopefully, you’ll get enough Star Wars goodness to hold you over until August, when Star Wars Celebration rolls back into town.

Star Wars Weekends takes place during normal park hours the weekends of May 18-20, May 25-27, June 1-3, and June 8-10 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
