Featured Release: Amazing Spider-Man: Ends of the Earth
While Marvel’s premier event currently is the slugfest Avengers vs. X-Men, Spider-Man and his cohorts are going through their own problems in their current arc Ends of the Earth (Marvel continuity = LOL!).
Doctor Otto Octavius (aka Doctor Octopus, Doc Ock), has been slowly dying – a result of his many battles with the “Wall Crawler”. Since then, Doc Ock has been attempting to “aid” humanity, using his massive intellect to provide final “gifts” to mankind. Many of these have been ruined or outright destroyed by Spider-Man, questioning Octavius’s motives. Ends up, he had good reason… Ends of the Earth reveals Doc Ock’s true motive, which is, of course, to take over the world. Utilizing a series of orbiting satellites, he intends on accelerating global warming – sinking the world – unless humanity surrenders to him.
This week’s one-shot provides side stories to the current arc, showing how other characters in the Marvel U are helping Spidey to foil Doc Ock’s plans. Will Octavius succeed or die trying?
Amazing Spider-Man: Ends of the Earth arrives on store shelves today.
