Featured Release: Batman: Death by Design
With so much going on in the world of Batman – the upcoming release of The Dark Knight Rises, yesterday’s release of the Harley Quinn expansion to Arkham City, the continued success of Scott Snyder’s Night of the Owls storyline – well you may be a little tired of the man in the cowl. However, DC Comics sure doesn’t hope so as they introduce a new original graphic novel with today’s release of Batman: Death by Design.
If you have ever dreamed of one day writing your own Batman story, you can draw inspiration from the writer of this story, Chip Kidd. After hosting a discussion with comic legend Neil Gaiman, Kidd was offered the opportunity to write a Batman story of his by DC’s Executive Editor Dan DiDio.
The story, which takes place out of current – or apparently any previous continuity – in 1930s Gotham City. The city is going through an architectural renaissance as Gotham enters the Modern Age. And, wealthy philanthropist Bruce Wayne has been at the head of the expansion. However, when catastrophic engineering accidents begin happening around town, is it due to poor construction or is there a more malicious intent behind it?
Batman: Death by Design is releasing in “deluxe edition” hardcover today.
