June Local Kickstarter Roundup

thCAP10YSZ

Even with the news you hear about massive Kickstarter successes like Double Fine’s adventure game and or Pebble e-watch, nearly 42% of Kickstarter projects end in failure.  While the community is in desperate need for more geek-related projects to support, here are a couple worth checking out.

The Lost Coven

The Lost Coven is a locally-produced movie seeking funding to complete their movie.  The movie is about an ancient curse affecting a small island and an archaeologist looking to study it.  Once completed, the crew looks to send the film out looking for distribution.

Cool Reward:  For $250 contributors receive a DVD copy of the movie, a movie poster, and a t-shirt from the film.

Hard Rock Album About The Avengers

What better way to celebrate the epicness that was last month’s The Avengers than listening to music based on the film?  At least, that’s the thought behind local group Lantia who are seeking funding for an Avengers-themed rock album.  The band promises music with a heavy rock emphasis on Avengers themes from the comic and movie universe.

Cool Reward:  For a $20 contribution you get a copy of the finished CD.

Alchemyst

Table top gaming, while not exactly a Phoenix-style resurgence, is starting to rise with the likes of the Nerdist Channels Table Top show on YouTube pushing it to the forefront.  Offering a new title to the environment is October Games and their new title Alchemyst.  The game offers the chance to do what has been a quest for men for generations:  use chemistry to create gold.

Cool Reward:  For a $50 contribution you can get a signed copy of the game, a velvet carrying bag, as well as a t-shirt OR a beanie!
