Featured Release: Star Trek: The Next Generation – The First Season
So, if you missed out on yesterday’s screening of the brand-new Star Trek: The Next Generation, you’ll be amazed to know that they somehow already have it available in Blu-ray with TONS of bonus footage. Almost as if it was the whole season of a television show.
OK, it’s late and my posts are getting too snarky. Trek fans should be excited with today’s release of Star Trek: The Next Generation, completely remastered with new effects. No, it’s not like Lucas messing with the Star Wars trilogy. From the changes that I’ve seen, the updates that CBS has made for the TNG Blu-rays seems to truly enhance the original, instead of forcing digital and CGI effects down our throats in places where it clearly didn’t belong. I think that can also go to saying that there’s a major difference between updating the special effects from a TV show that aired in the ‘90s versus a movie that was filmed in the ‘70s. Just sayin’.
There will also be an abundance of special features including the documentary Stardate Revisited, which tells the story of the making of TNG featuring interviews with the cast & crew behind the series.
Star Trek: The Next Generation – The First Season beams down to store shelves today. See… See what I did there. “Beams down…” Awesome.
(Editor’s Note: Boy, what a craptacular week in new releases. Honestly, probably best to just save your pennies and wait for something else…)
