Featured Release: Batman – Earth One
In 2010, the comic-realm was all a-twitter with J. Michael Straczynski’s original hardcover Superman: Earth One. The first in DC’s new Earth One series, the initiative tells original stories outside the traditional DC continuity featuring some of their most iconic characters. While you can debate the “goodness” of the actual book – which I would say it “wasn’t very” – you can’t argue the incredible sales. The book was a massive seller and incredibly difficult to get your hands on for quite some time.
Now, two years and one complete reboot later, DC is finally releasing the second book in the series. And really, it’s about time they feature this character as it seems he has been completely forgotten by DC… Batman </sarcasm>. And, from what I’ve read on the new graphic novel, he’s definitely taking a different path than the suave and debonair Bruce Wayne we’ve all come to know. And, for the most part, it sounds pretty interesting. Personally, this sounds like the complete reimagining of the DC characters and cityscapes I was hoping for out of the New 52 that we didn’t get.
Batman: Earth One arrives on store shelves today!
