Featured Release:  Universal Classic Monsters – The Essential Collection

This year marks the 100th Anniversary of Universal Pictures and if you’ve been to Universal Studios lately you’ve likely seen signs around the park or the nightly Universal Cinematic Spectacular celebrating the occasion.  One of Universal’s most iconic films was this year’s Battleship…  A film that will be treasured for generations.  I know I cannot wait to sit my children down to watch Rihanna swimming with a hat on.

But, if you’re more of an old-school movie fan, maybe the cinematic spectacular that is Battleship isn’t for you.  For you, Universal is offering up a special collection of horror classics.  Universal Classic Monsters – The Essential Collection features eight of the classic titles that put the studio on the map, which have been remastered and brought to Blu-ray.

The movies collected in this set include:

• The Mummy (1932)
• The Invisible Man (1933)
• The Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
• The Wolf Man (1941)
• The Phantom of the Opera (1943)
• The Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954)

If you’re at all interested in the classic monsters, you’ll definitely want to check out Universal’s House of Horrors at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights.  Many of the iconic characters are featured in environs reflective of the films.
