Featured Release:  007 Legends

GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64 is one of the video game industry’s most legendary titles.  The 1997 game popularized such gaming staples as first-person shooters on consoles and multiplayer deathmatches.

Since then, developers have been trying to match the impact of GoldenEye with several movie tie-in games and the very disappointing GoldenEye: Rogue Agent, to varying success.  Today, in the lead-up to next week’s release of Skyfall, Activision and Eurocom take another stab at the series with 007 Legends.

Making the seemingly wise decision not to make yet another tie-in game, Legends instead celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Bond films (the book series turns 60 next year).  The game will feature stages based on classic scenes from many of the films, with each leading man getting the spotlight.  Players will also have the opportunity to face-off against some of the series’ classic villains, with some of the original actors lending their voices to the game.

And, living up to the GoldenEye tradition, the game will feature an extensive multiplayer mode.  Multiplayer will be familiar to fans of the Call of Duty series, with a perk and upgrade system heavily influenced by the behemoth.

007 Legends arrives on store shelves today.  Skyfall, the next film in the Bond series, releases next Friday, October 26th.
